Currently we have targeted two villages that we are assisting.

Betulia is a coastal village inhabited by approximately 60 families. Most villagers live off their "milpas" (farmland) or by fishing.  From Betulia it is a 3 hour walk to the nearest health center.

Las Brisas is a mountain village nestled in a valley, at approximately 2000 ft, and is a two hours horseback ride away. It also has around 60 families and their main stay is farming.  Both these villages are practically cut off from the outside during rainy season and they have to rely on their own resources in case of emergencies.

In Betulia, we are involved in an "intercambio" (exchange of ideas), with the village health care workers and midwife. They share with us their knowledge of natural medicine and we in turn are sharing about emergency care, prevention of diseases, etc.

Latrine Projects - In both Las Brisas and Betulia we are helping supply materials for latrines. Our goal is to provide at least one latrine for every house.

Water Projects -  The villages are located near rivers, that are used for drinking water, laundry mat and swimming hole. In Las Brisas, we are helping to build a water system.  It will bring water down from a mountain spring to a central tank, where they will continue the water lines to each home.  In Betulia, the village is much more spread out, so we will drill water wells there.

Efforts are underway to construct a
ministry house in the village of Betulia.  We hope to be a center for village health education, appropriate technology for the village and eventually it's surrounding villages.  It will also serve as a location for our health care workers and medical teams to be hosted during their stay in the village.

Completed Kindergarten construction -  Recently we were able to help
Las Brisas construct a Kindergarten building.  It is currently being used.
